Born in 2008, this British Thoroughbred retired unbeaten, with 14 wins from 14 starts. But what made him truly remarkable wasn’t just winning — it was how effortlessly he did it, against some of the best horses of his generation.

Trained by Sir Henry Cecil and ridden by Tom Queally, Frankel became a phenomenon that went far beyond the racing world. His performance in the 2011 2000 Guineas remains one of the most talked-about moments in modern flat racing: he took the lead from the start and quickly opened up a gap so large that many thought he had gone too fast too early. But to everyone’s surprise, he simply kept going and won with complete authority.

By the time he retired, he was still unbeaten and had been awarded the highest rating ever given to a racehorse in the modern era. For many racing fans, he wasn’t just an outstanding champion — he was the closest thing they had ever seen to a perfect racehorse.
